Living Waters: From Harbour Crisis to Climate Action - Sydney - Citizen COP 2026
Description
Sydney Living Waters Lab: Regenerative Urban Adaptation
How can a city learn to live with water rather than hold it back?
Hosted at the Retort House at Sub Base Platypus, this event introduces the Sydney Living Waters Lab — a platform connecting researchers, industry, government, Traditional Custodians and communities to accelerate practical, nature-based responses to climate change.
Through talks, demonstrations and conversation, discover projects taking shape at the Retort House — from modular floating living shorelines and oyster-habitat buoys to mycelium biomaterials, circular manufacturing and community-led prototyping. Together, they show how underused urban places can become civic laboratories for restoring harbour ecosystems, building climate resilience, developing new materials and turning research into real-world impact.
Local community members, COP delegates, researchers and Sydney partners are all invited to participate, share ideas and help shape the Lab’s first program of pilots, partnerships and public experiments — turning Sydney Harbour into a living testbed for regenerative urban adaptation.
This is a public session by Blue Green Australia.

About Citizen COP Australia
Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
