Join local author Bruce Mitchell as he discusses, Wide Sky People, the first in his Thornton series.

In 1841 Galway, Ireland, the Thornton family faces a life-changing decision due to owing debt to their wealthy landlord. Their dream of land ownership and a better life seems impossible as they embark on the journey to New South Wales, Australia. They encounter numerous dangers, including treacherous seas, sickness, crooked cops, bushfires, and more.

Wide Sky People is an adventurous tale of hard work, resilience, and luck as two generations of Thornton's navigate an untamed world. This is the first volume of the Thornton series, followed by Breaking Lucky, Wild Fennel and If The Sun Shines Again.

He will also be speaking about his Gladiator fiction Flamma and historical murder mystery Dare the Dark.

Books will be available for purchase on the day. Payment via cash only.

Bruce Mitchell has worked as a labourer, shop assistant, musician, clerk, educator, waiter, bookmaker, public servant, consultant and corporate director. Mitchell’s writing history began as a copywriter with a Sydney advertising agency, writing print and radio scripts for products, corporate training and marketing videos.

His passion for history and talent for writing have combined in the authorship of six novels and one novella in the historical fiction genre, receiving 4-5 star ratings on Amazon.
