The Queen of the West trilogy is an epic three-book historical fiction series set primarily in Cincinnati.
As the country navigates the transformative years leading up to and through the Civil War and perseveres through the challenges of Reconstruction, Annie, a trailblazing feminist, and Max, the determined son of an immigrant from the Over-the-Rhine German neighborhood, find themselves at the crossroads of history.
The resilient couple crosses paths with prominent historical figures and places familiar to Cincinnatians. Through their eyes, the lesser-known narrative of nineteenth-century Cincinnati comes to life. Caught in the tensions between North and South, the Queen City pulses with the dreams of ambitious men and women who lay the foundation for westward expansion and the rise of a prosperous nation.
JR Zink grew up in Ohio and earned his BBA from the University of Cincinnati. He enjoyed a successful career as a management and technology consultant and executive leader before stepping away from the business world to develop his right-brain talents as an author. JR and his wife raised a family and now live in the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Walking the same streets as Annie and Max inspired him to research and write the Queen of the West books.
