Randy’s first novel, CHECKMATE KING TWO, was published in 2024 and is a murder mystery set in Cincinnati and Finneytown. The trail of intrigue also involves, chess, the Vietnam War, jungles in Cambodia, attacks by the Khmer Rouge, secret tunnels, and hidden gems.
Randy Hirtzel lives in the Finneytown neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife, Barbara. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in Architecture, designed houses and buildings, and wrote stories in his spare time. He retired early to focus on his writing. Randy enjoys hiking, gardening, poetry, and spending time with his three children and five grandchildren.
He is currently at work on another novel which he describes as a "spiritual mystery."
