Sunday Forums #4: Local Climate Action Now!
Event description
Forum #4 - Local Climate Action Now!
Progressive Port Phillip is proud to partner with the Port Phillip Emergency Climate Action Network [PECAN] to highlight the need for urgent local action on climate.
Many local homes and businesses are highly vulnerable to climate change, especially due to rising sea levels. Urgent action needs to be a priority for the next Council.
Key Speaker - David Spratt
David Spratt is a climate policy and science analyst. He is noted for his preparedness to communicate undiluted climate science about the climate trajectory we are on, to a lay audience - however difficult that may be to hear and bear. Despite the stark message, he does not see it as reason for defeatism or paralysis. He sees it as a necessary condition for climate action.
David has been Research Coordinator for the Breakthrough – National Centre for Climate Restoration (Melbourne) since 2014. His writings have appeared in newspapers like The Guardian and The Age and online sites including, Crikey, Renew Economy and New Matilda, among others.
