Local Democracy Conversation Series - West End
Event description
Council elections are coming up this year! Ahead of the polls opening in October the Democracy for Dinner group is hosting a series of open discussions about democracy at the local level. These will cover themes like:
What matters to you in your local area?
What kind of representation would you like to see?
What do you see as the role of council (including some clarification about this where helpful!)?
The purpose of these discussions is to boost civic involvement, with a focus on values and principles and NOT on specific contentious issues or partisan politics.
The West End is the first of these sessions and therefore will also serve as a trial for the format. We request that all participants joining us do so in a spirit of openness and respect for each other as we explore these topics together.
We will bring some things for light supper. Feel free to bring a plate to share.
