The corporate takeover of our food systems is built on an obsession with global trade and technology. In this workshop session of the Global People's Summit on Food Systems, big-picture systems analysts Azra Sayeed, Camila Moreno, and Helena Norberg-Hodge unpack the entrenched links between "free" trade, technological expansion, and a global food system that is anti-nature and anti-farmer. Explore how we can challenge the techno-trade ideology, reverse the industrial food system’s destructive expansion, and help diverse, localized, human-scale food systems to flourish.

With a view to strategic policy changes, participants will engage in a brainstorming session to help develop campaigns that raise awareness about the insanity of the global food system, and about the great need to shift from global to local.

~ SPEAKERS ~

Azra Sayeed (Pakistan) has represented the International Women's Alliance, the Asia Pacific Research Network, and Roots for Equity. She unpacks and speaks out against militarism, patriarchy, globalization, aid and hunger.

Camila Moreno (Brazil/Germany) is a scholar, activist, researcher, and the world's preeminent critic of the international climate negotiations (COPs).

Helena Norberg-Hodge (Sweden/Australia) is an acclaimed author and activist, and pioneer of the new economy and localization movements. She is founder and director of the international NGO Local Futures.
