    Event description

Our local Fleurieu and Hills food environment is a very special one and this event celebrates that and more – order a local picnic hamper or bring your own, connect and learn from First Nation custodians, taste local food,  meet local farmers and producers, hear inspirational stories of innovation and action that supports a vibrant and thriving local food community.

Let’s support local food, value country and celebrate the special people behind this incredible food region.

The day will begin with a very special Ngarrindjeri welcome to country followed by First Nations dancing and song.

Then the picnic will begin with an opportunity to connect with local farmers and producers to purchase local foods or you can pre order a hamper or bring your own.

There will be a range of activities for all - including Ngarrindjeri craft corner and Jason from Nature Play SA

During the picnic there will be Moses a local Ngarrindjeri chef and Manuela from Healthy Sparkles creating native local food delights and tastings with the lovely Jessie from My Grandma Ben facilitating queries to our chefs.

And at 1pm there will be a series of short talks from local amazing food identities/farmers and producers - highlighting the innovation and action happening in this special food region. Speakers include Quahli Newchurch, Kaurna Firesticks Alliance, Kym Ormond  Kitchen Farm, Ben Ryan from Trent Rock Farm, Chris Day Cockatoo Creek Farm, Steve Local Brewer, Jessie Spiby My Grandma Ben , Liz Sanders Local Food Futures project

This will be an alcohol free event.
