Event description

We are thrilled to be hosting Local Food On Country again in 2025.

The Fleurieu and Hills region is home to an extraordinary food landscape—one shaped by the land, the people who steward it, and the traditions that sustain it. Local Food on Country is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity to connect deeply with the stories, knowledge, and flavours that make our local food system thrive.

Join us for a day of learning and celebration, where you’ll:
🌿 Learn from First Nations custodians about the deep connections between food, culture, and Country.
🍽 Taste the best of local produce and meet the passionate farmers, producers, and innovators behind it.
🎤 Be inspired by thought leaders sharing stories of resilience, sustainability, and action in our food community.
🎶 Experience the sounds of Country with live Indigenous and local music celebrating culture and connection.
🧩 Engage the whole family with our interactive local food trail activity, designed for all ages.

Let’s support local food, value country and celebrate the special people behind this incredible food region.

The day will begin with a very special Welcome to Country followed by a range of local activities, a producers market and a fun filled local food trail - where everyone can discover and learn more about amazing local food producers.

There will be local music and further details will be announced soon including speakers and amazing local food identities.

Local hampers and local meat and salad boxes are available for pre purchase - this is a great way to taste local produce and to support local farmers in a very dry year. Some of these producers will be in the market area so you can pursue the produce directly from them after if you like.

Vegetarian and Vegan options are available.

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and there will be fresh food available to purchase directly from producers.

This will be an alcohol free event. There will be coffee van present and other cool beverages for sale.

As we are aiming to be a low waste event please bring your own keep cup and we are ensuring the event is as accessible for all so please let contact Liz at liz@thefoodembassy.org  if you have any access issues and if you need transport support/access from the Onkaparinga region.
