Logan Pest Fishing Cup 2024
Event description
Calling anglers of all ages - the City of Logan annual Pest Fishing Cup is on again! Join us for a day on the water to remove invasive pest fish species and improve the health of our local waterways. Great prizes are on offer for those who catch fish and even those who don’t, so dust off the rods and bring along the whole family!
Along with casting a line along Scrubby Creek, there will be an opportunity to chat with experts and local groups, participate in family-friendly activities and discover what fish-related projects are happening in Logan.
Competition schedule:
8:00am - Sign-in opens
8:30am - Welcome and briefing
9:00am - Fishing commences
12:00pm - Fishing ends
12:15pm - Weigh-ins close
12:30pm - Presentation and prizes
Competition rules:
- All entrants must be present for the briefing before start of competition
- Registered entrants must wear provided wristband
- Only 1 fishing line in the water per person
- No bread to be used for bait or burley
- Only barbless hooks to be used
- Tilapia and Carp caught must not be returned to the water
- All pest species caught must be euthanised and put in the bags provided
- All pest species caught must be brought to the main hub for weigh in and disposal
- All native species to be returned to the water unharmed
- Fishing is only permitted in designated areas (relevant to your ticket type)
- All kayak ticket holders will be required to wear a life jacket and use non-inflatable craft
- You must be present for prize draws and lucky door prize
- All decisions by the judges are final

Other important information:
- Tickets required for all entrants, places are limited.
- This outdoor event is for ages 5 years and over, parent/guardian supervision required for under 18's.
- The event will be strictly managed under a Biosecurity Queensland pest fishing permit through fishing event management group 2 Bent Rods.
- This is a drug and alcohol-free event, no glass or single-use plastic water bottles permitted on site.

Q. What does my registration include?
A. Registration includes three (3) barbless hooks per entrant, a small amount of bait (corn and dough) and a ticket for the sausage sizzle.
Q. Where does the cost of my tickets go?
A. All proceeds from ticket sales (less booking fee costs) will be used to restock native species in the Scrubby Creek Catchment.
Q. I want to book a kayak ticket, what do I need to know?
A. You will be required to supply your own kayak (non-inflatable), life jacket and be over 18 years old. Kayak entry will be located in the waterbody closest to First Ave and the best access point is along the footpath opposite Woodburn St.
Q. What do I need to wear?
A. Please wear fully enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothing (long shirt and pants recommended), hat and sunscreen.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Bring along fishing equipment (limited rods will be available to hire for a gold coin donation), water bottle, chair, sun shelters, insect repellent and any snacks.
Q. Will there be food and drinks available?
A. Food and drinks will be available to purchase, and a free sausage sizzle for entrants will be available from 11.00am. Â
Q. How do I cancel my ticket?
A. Cancel your ticket via Humanitix or email 2 Bent Rods at bookings@2bentrods.com.au. Refunds will be available up to 24 hours prior to the start of the event.
