Event description

This one day introduction to Lomi Lomi is perfect for anyone who loves massage and wants to spend a full day immersed in the blissful world of healing touch.  It is also perfect for anyone considering taking the full training, and would like a taster to see if Lomi Lomi is for them.

This workshop is hands on - everyone will give and receive massage multiple times, and you will leave with the tools to be able to practice on friends and loved ones. The day will be fun, light hearted, but deep - as Lomi is a powerful tool and has the potential for deep healing.

A healthy, nourishing vegetarian lunch is included, and there will be time to relax by the pool after lunch.
Expect a day of learning, laughter, pleasure, fun, and deep nourishment.

What is Lomi Lomi Massage?

Lomi Lomi is the traditional form of Hawaiian bodywork originally practiced by Kahunas (shamans). The massage goes way beyond physical relaxation - it aims to transform and rebalance, creating harmony and flow within a person's being. A Lomi session has the potential to be totally life changing - it is a powerful massage experience, using lots of warm oil and long, flowing strokes up and down the body. The flowing movements allow the mind to truly switch off, so that the receiver may experience their own body on a much deeper level.

In this one day introduction you will learn:

  • the basics of Huna (Hawaiian philosophy) & approach to healing
  • how to offer deeply relaxing, blissful, healing touch
  • basic Lomi Lomi strokes

What to bring:

  • a sarong
  • pen / notebook
  • waterbottle
  • swimmers &  towel for the pool
  • wear comfortable clothing that you can move in, and don't mind getting oily

Rough timetable:

9am - arrival, welcome circle

9.30am - introduction to Huna & Lomi Lomi approach

10am - demo 1 (back of body)

10.45am - short embodiment practice

11am - start exchanges

12.30 - LUNCH break (delicious lunch provided by Billabong Retreat!), swim, relax by the pool, socialise or enjoy quiet time

2pm - demo 2 (front of body & under the body work)

2.45pm - short embodiment practice

3pm - start exchanges

4.30pm - closing circle

  • Important note: when receiving Lomi you are invited to be nude, with a sarong covering the genitals at all times. For women, this means the chest/breasts are exposed in the second half of the massage. This is best for the flowing nature of Lomi especially for under the body strokes, however if you are not comfortable with this that is totally ok and your boundaries will always be respected. If you prefer not to be nude when receiving, please bring a bikini that you don't mind getting oily.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

With love,

Zena
