Event description

Black Maria Film Collective is proud to present the 1928 silent/part-talkie drama Lonesome!

Directed by the under-appreciated auteur Paul Fejös, whose technical wizardry was groundbreaking in his time and whose European beginnings gave a breath of fresh air to Hollywood, Lonesome is a simple story about love and loneliness between two working-class nobodies in the big city.

With its location photography, sparing use of colour tinting, and the casting of relative unknowns, Lonesome is a story that will touch all and speak to the inner romantic in everyone.

Preceding Lonesome will be a short film - a Black Maria production - that we are very proud and excited to show. Two years in the making, The Lady and the Lighthouse is also a silent film and is shot in the Old Hollywood style.
