Long Story Short

As part of the North Coast Ceramics Mud Trail, Station Street Gallery in Bangalow, will host an exhibition opening featuring selected works by Mud Trail artist Jenn Johnston.

The exhibition offers an opportunity to experience a small collection of contemporary ceramic works alongside the open studios and workshops taking place across the Northern Rivers during the Mud Trail weekend.

Guests are invited to meet the artist, explore the exhibition space and enjoy an evening of ceramics, conversation and community.

Exhibition Dates: Thursday 13th to Wednesday 26th August

Artist Talk: Friday 21st August, 5,00 pm to 7.00 pm

About the Artist

Jenn Johnston is a ceramic artist based in Mullumbimby. Her practice is driven by a search for pure form, with her work sitting at the intersection of texture and tone, surface and shape. Jenn's work is largely left unglazed, with slip and celebrating the raw beauty of the clay body.

Long Story Short brings a new dimension to Jenn's practice. The exhibition centres on books that have shaped her throughout her life - Jenn has inscribed meaningful quotes into ceramic vessels and sculptures, so that each piece is a quiet homage to a story that has stayed with her.

The gallery will be set up as a reading room, with an armchair, a lamp and copies of each of the books alongside the ceramic works - an invitation for visitors to sit with the pieces and the words together.
