Live Filming: Looking Back, Stepping Forward

Join us for a special live filming of "Looking Back, Stepping Forward," the new production by choreographer Rachel Linsky's ZACHOR Dance Projects in collaboration with Nat Seelen and Ezekiel's Wheels Klezmer Band.

This is your chance to see the piece getting made and participate in a live filming session in preparation for the official premiere this coming December. (Keep your eyes out for news about that show. It's going to be pretty spectacular!)

We'll be filming a trilogy of works, each choreographed by Rachel to original klezmer music. The choreography draws from traditional Yiddish social dances, contemporary practices, and the embodied movement vocabularies of each of the dancers. It's a genuinely unique piece of art and we are looking forward to sharing it with you.

“Looking Back, Stepping Forward is a reflection on diasporic identity: what it means to honor our histories while allowing tradition to live, change, and evolve in our bodies. Through the dialogue between music and dance, past and present, individual and collective, and the tension that lives in each of those conversations, the work offers a joyful model of cultural exchange. It celebrates how these forms allow us to find space for our own voice within the context of a community, and how it is the questions that these traditions invite us to ask that get us there.”
