Looking Up: the chimneys of Bendigo
Description
Join our guides for a looking up walk.
Bendigo skyline has obviously changed noticeably over the years.
The remnants of mining such as poppet heads, engine rooms, service quarters, battery houses and chimneys have steadily disappeared. However some remaining chimneys particularly from the late 19th-century gold rush, recall the city’s industrial boom and prosperity.
These, along with residential Victorian-era chimneys featuring, adorned, polychrome brick and stucco continue to define the historic skyline of Bendigo.
