Lord Frederick Screening and Artist Talk

Thursday June 26, 2025 | 6-7:30pm

At the Tenderloin Museum | 398 Eddy St. SF, CA 94102

A special presentation of a short documentary portrait of the “Black, blind, gay, sexy artist Lord Frederick” by filmmaker James Q. Chan, followed by an artist talk with Lord Frederick himself.

Filmed in part through his specialty camera glasses, this short documentary offers a layered portrait of Lord Frederick, a San Francisco Tenderloin resident and artist who lost his sight in the 1980s yet continues to see the world in color. With a deep love of fashion and a belief in always dressing your best, he brings flair and intention to each day. From marathon routes in San Francisco and New York to choir rehearsals and a rare visit home to family—his life is filled with movement, imagination, and quiet resilience. What unfolds is a life shaped not by limitation, but by creative force and the communities he builds around him.
