LOS CHICHANOS
chicha, psychedelic cumbia, salsa, carimbó
“Wild music at its sweatiest, performed live to make bodies move and minds travel”
The band behind Edinburgh's legendary late night Latin fiestas, Los Chichanos perform Jungle Cumbia or “chicha”. The genre of South American music has experienced a worldwide boom in recent years, and it’s clear why - hot Latin percussion, jungle sounds, psychedelic surf guitar-driven songs, vintage sixties organ and all the raucous rhythms of live cumbia & salsa you could ever dance to. Los Chichanos formed in 2021 with members from Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Australia and the UK. After a successful tour around the UK this summer performing at notable venues in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and London, the band are also on the bill for several festivals including Kelburn Garden Party, Doune The Rabbit Hole, Fringe by the Sea and Merchant City Festival.
