Louisiana's Community Health Centers Day of Action

Join the Louisiana Primary Care Association, Community Health Centers from across the state, and community partner organizations for our 2025 Louisiana Community Health Center Day of Action at the State Capitol! Get a firsthand look at our state's legislative process, join committee meetings where proposed legislation is discussed, and get face-to-face time with your representatives to share with them the importance of Community Health Centers and the work they do.

I. Breakfast with Legislators - Connect with your representatives over coffee first thing in the morning at the Capitol Park Museum, just across the gardens from the State Capitol. This networking time will be an informal start to the day and allow attendees and legislators alike to grab breakfast and get to know each other, fellow attendees, and potential sponsors.

II. Get to Know Our Priorities - Before we head to committee meetings, receive an overview of policy priorities set by LPCA's Legislative Committee as well as talking points for the day ahead. 

III. Sit in on Committee Meetings - Legislation that may affect Community Health Centers or their patients may be discussed in committee meetings where potential bills are brought before the appropriate legislators. LPCA and advocates will have the opportunity to sit in on these meetings and, if appropriate, submit cards in opposition or support. 

IV. Lunch in the Rotunda - LPCA has secured a limited number of tables in the Capitol Rotunda for CHC representatives to set up with informational materials and promotional items. A quick lunch will be provided there for all participants. 

V. Press Conference on the Capitol Steps - Join us on the steps of the Capitol for a press conference where LPCA leadership will speak on the importance of Community Health Centers, their benefits to our state's vulnerable populations as well as our economy, and the challenges health centers are currently facing.

VI. Recognition on the House & Senate Floor - Be recognized by the House & Senate as they convene on their respective floors for the afternoon to provide final discussion and votes on legislation,

VII. Evening Reception - Wind down with hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and music at the Capitol Park Museum. All attendees and legislators will be invited to attend.
