Love and Sacred Play – The Heart of Tantra

A dynamically engaging and fun introduction to the ancient teachings and techniques of Tantra and the not-so-ancient concept of Anahata Tantra. This 2-day workshop is delivered in a delightfully playful and non-confrontational manner, perfectly suited to life in the 21st Century.

Who is Swami Amano Maalik?

Swami Amano Maalik (aka Robbie Hoad) is a Neo-Sanyassin Tantrika and graduate of Tantra Teacher Training at The Heart of Shiva School of Tantra, part of the Muktinanda and Shivananda Tantric lineage. This lineage dates back to pre-history. Maalik has run several workshops including the regular Wednesday night Blisskit at Breathe NT and he once hosted The Taste of Love - Sacred Sexuality Festival in Byron Bay. Maalik brings a wealth of experience and understanding about the often-misunderstood wisdom and practice of Tantra.

What is Anahata Tantra?

Anahata Tantra (Heart Tantra) is a distillation of many years of learning and practice designed to help participants integrate the sacred nature of Tantra into daily life. Also called Both Hands Tantra it combines techniques from The Right Hand Path, which primarily focuses on personal inner processes, with the stimulating and dynamising possibilities of The Left Hand Path (practicing with others).

What will we be doing?

Day 1 (9am – 3:00 pm, Saturday July 8) We will begin with some getting-to-know-you games and an overview of the weekend. The basic ideas of Tantra will be discussed, and we will enter into some enlivening personal practice, heart-opening techniques and illuminating exploration. We’ll break for lunch around 12 (mild vegan curry and salads) and go gentler yet deeper after lunch with some beautiful meditations and a final share. From 3:00 we can ‘chill by the pool’ for casual social time till about 4:30, if you choose.

Day 2 (9am-3:00pm Sunday July 9) Sunday will be a deeper dive into the essence of Tantra and the Power of Heart (Anahata). We will be working with others in a held space that offers options of closeness (i.e. If you are attending with a partner, there will be various optional levels of ‘clothes-on’ intimate exploration whereas, if you are a solo participant, there will be ‘respectful distance’ options with the person you choose to work with). Lunch around 12 (similar sattvic curry to Saturday) followed by some beautiful heart-based meditations and exercises as well as the ‘chill by the pool’ option.

Isn’t Tantra all about sex?

No. It’s about life, love and spirituality. Sex and sexual energy is part of life, love and spirit and we work with it rather than denying it or pretending it doesn’t affect us. More about this at the workshop. This is definitely a ‘clothes-on’ experience. If you attend with a partner, you may choose to explore some things in a more intimate manner when you get home.

What shall I bring?

Water bottle (filtered water available), yoga mat, cushion, light clothing for movement, notebook, swimming attire, any personal essentials like medication, insect repellent of your choice (there may be a few mozzies) and an open-minded attitude.

What are the costs?

The weekend is costed at $300/person including lunch on both days. There is a 10% discount option for couples/duos at $540. Sponsorship is available to the financially challenged pending a discussion with Maalik on 0410514962.

Can I have a trial experience?

Every Wednesday at Breathe NT, Maalik runs The Blisskit, which is a casual drop-in Tantra class.

Is this LGBTQI friendly?

Absolutely. Maalik’s first Tantra workshop was delivered at the Queer Spirituality Festival in Adelaide and he has worked closely with transgender, non-binary, gender fluid humans and all manner of queer folk.
