This Valentine's Day (now Friday, 21st February), join us for a magical evening of poetry, music, and love at “Love Poetry Under The Stars.” Celebrate the power of words and the beauty of connection in an intimate, starlit setting that promises to inspire and captivate.

Nestled in the heart of nature, this unique event combines the warmth of community with the brilliance of a stellar constellation of love poets. Whether you're a poetry lover, a romantic, or simply seeking an unforgettable way to spend an evening under the stars, this event is for you.

⏰ Time: Arrive at 6:15 pm for a 6:30 pm start. The event concludes at 8:30 pm, with a short intermission.

Melissa Domiati

Melissa Domiati is an inspirational speaker whose love of words and the power they hold comes through clearly in her presentations. Her warmth and acceptance are something we can learn from, and her messages of how poetry can heal and bring comfort leave us with an eagerness to embrace self-expression through the practical, achievable techniques she models.

Ayuba SOQS

Ayuba SOQS considers himself to be the “Sound Of a Quiet Soul,” an artist’s persona that originated from his need to be more outspoken and make his presence known and felt. Passionate about music and the arts, Ayuba enjoys building friendships and exchanging skills with other creatives, allowing it to help him grow as an artist. His creativity continues to evolve as he explores different genres.

Suraj Raja

Suraj, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ from Perth, is making waves in the music scene with his eclectic sound. With several years entrenched in Perth's vibrant musical culture, Suraj has emerged as a dynamic force to be reckoned with. His love for diverse genres such as hip hop, house, afro house, afrobeat, and dance fuels his creativity.

Whether spinning tracks behind the decks or crafting beats in the studio, Suraj's performances are a testament to his versatility and innovation. His ability to seamlessly blend different musical elements sets him apart in the industry. In addition to his solo work, Suraj is also a member of Shadow Planet, a band that plays electronic neo-soul.

As an up-and-coming creative, Suraj continually pushes the boundaries of his artistry, exploring new sonic territories with each composition. His passion for music is evident in every note, beat, and melody he produces, inviting listeners on a captivating journey through his kaleidoscopic musical universe.

With unwavering dedication to his craft and an undeniable talent for captivating audiences, Suraj is poised to leave an indelible mark on the global music scene. Keep an eye on this rising star as he continues to ascend to new heights.

Gillian Clark

Gillian is a poet and storyteller who works and plays on Nyoongar Boodjar. She has connections to the Storytellers Guild WA and WA Poets Inc. and has performed at festivals, appeared in WA anthologies, and held residencies at the Perth Poetry Festival (2023), Albany’s VAC Centre (2024), and KSP. Her mission is to bring story and poetry to a wider audience.

Caitlin Kotula

Caitlin Kotula is a writer, poet, and hopeless ruminator living in Perth/Boorloo, Australia. In 2024, she was awarded an All Write Hot Desk Fellowship by Centre for Stories to assemble the bones of her next project and served as writer-in-residence at Arteles Creative Center in Finland. These opportunities have deepened her fascination with the poetics of place and space, feminine rage, and art as vociferation.

Javier Bateman (They/He)

Javier Bateman (he/they) is a twenty-five-year-old queer, chronically ill, transmasculine poet and museum worker living on unceded Whadjuk Nyungar Boodjar. He has been previously published in Australian journals such as the Enby Life, Blue Bottle Journal, Sunder Journal, Two Wolves Digest, and the poetry anthologies Grieve, Into the Wetlands and Hello Keanu. He most recently wrote and acted in the Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights Program ‘Love and Other Catastrophes’. Javier's poetry deals with diverse themes of grief, queerness, love, and nature. In his (limited) downtime, Javier is often found at home consuming media about sad cowboys.

Carolyn Abbs

Carolyn Abbs is the author of two poetry collections, most recently It’s Why She Gave Me the Painting (WAPP, 2025) and The Tiny Museums (UWAP, 2017), which was Highly Commended in the Dorothy Hewett Award for an unpublished manuscript. She lives and writes by the ocean in South Fremantle.

Livia Jane

Livia Jayne is a WA poet and writer of YA fiction. Liv mostly dabbles in stories with a dash of magic, and has two self-published poetry collections. Metapoetical (2022) delves into the love affair poets have with their muse, while Crossroads (2023) is an exploration of intersecting stories and identity. Liv enjoys connecting with writers in online spaces, and loves sharing her discoveries of the creative process on Instagram and Substack as @written_by_liv. Her dream is to pursue a career as a full-time writer, and welcomes you to join her for the journey.

🎶 Special Music Performance

Juliana Areias

Dubbed the Bossa Nova Baby, award-winning Brazilian jazz singer-songwriter Juliana Areias has charted in the US Jazz Top 100 and performed at the Sydney Opera House, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, the Green Room in New York, and The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. In Perth, she created the Sunset Songs at North Cottesloe Concert Series and has performed at the Perth Festival, Kings Park Festival, Perth International Jazz Festival, Perth Concert Hall, and the Western Australian of the Year Ceremony with the Perth Symphony Orchestra.

Sally Newman & Donna Shima

Sally Newman is an award-winning published poet who often brings the narrative of everyday life into her work, connecting elements and emotion as one entity. Her portfolio includes mentoring writers, hosting retreats, and producing for theatre and film.

Donna Shima is an intuitive musician and master of energy exchange through the frequencies of sound. She has a transcendence that carries her audience into a beautiful place of calm and clarity.

Together, Sally and Donna will be offering a mini sound journey for the embodiment and awakening of love.
