Ethan Kent, Gilbert Rochecouste and Emma Hall, some of the world’s leading placemaking leaders, invite you to an inspiring, transformative and practical masterclass. This day will explore the next evolution of placemaking, helping you to create loveable and thriving places for all.

Regenerative Placemaking provides a new approach to transforming our communities and places; giving voice and agency to local people be stewards in transforming their places.

In this masterclass we will provide you with:

Speakers

Ethan Kent: Special Guest and Keynote Speaker

Ethan Kent works to support public space organisations, projects, and leadership around the world to build a global placemaking movement. Ethan has travelled to more than 1000 cities and 65 countries to advance the cause of leading urban development with inclusive public spaces and placemaking.

In 2019, he co-founded PlacemakingX to network, amplify, and accelerate placemaking learning, leadership and impact globally. He builds on more than 20 years of working on placemaking projects and campaigns with Project for Public Spaces. 

Ethan has been integral to the development of placemaking as a transformative approach to economic development, environmentalism, transportation planning, governance, resilience, social equity, design, digital space, tourism and innovation.

Gilbert Rochecouste: Founder and Creative Director at Village Well

Gilbert Rochecouste is the Founding Director of Village Well. Gilbert is a renowned expert in placemaking, recognised globally for creating vibrant and resilient places. Over 30 years, he has collaborated with over 2,500 cities and communities. 

Former General Manager of Chadstone Shopping Centre, Gilbert pioneered applying shopping centre management principles to main streets, founding Village Well, Australia’s first placemaking consultancy.

Passionate about people, places, and the planet, Gilbert’s work spans Australia, the Middle East, Mauritius and more. 

Gilbert’s focus is on regenerative placemaking and he has become one of the world’s most recognised placemakers.

Emma Hall: Director of Placemaking at Village Well
Emma is a strategic placemaker and innovator with experience in Architecture, Urban Design, Community Engagement, Social Programming, and Strategic . 

As a innovator in placemaking movement, she has lead the Village Well team to curate the Regenerative Placemaking model and processes. 

She has delivered city-shaping projects across Australia and internationally. A leader in placemaking for social housing and health and wellbeing, she brings a unique approach to the place world.

A talented facilitator and teacher, she aims to empower and build the capacity of those she works with, to provide the best outcomes for places and communities.
