GET 15 MINUTES WORKING ON A SHAKESPEARE MONOLOGUE OF YOUR CHOICE, ON OR OFF-BOOK, WITH VERSE COACH WILLIAM DOWNES. YOU WILL ALSO BE OBSERVING AND WORKING WITH OTHER PARTICIPANTS.

About William: 

After studying and performing in and around NYC in 90's and early 2000's (Yes, he's that old) William decided it was time to start his own company. Based on the idea all Shakespeare needs are actors who trust in each other and the text, and an audience to go along on the journey, Classics on the Rocks focuses on stripped back, bare bones productions that let the language breathe and the characters sing.  Over the past decade, William has directed Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night, Winter's Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, and Henry V, to name a few.  He has also performed in Merchant of Venice (Gratiano) Twelfth Night (Malvolio), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Peter Quince) As You Like It (Jaques) He has participated in acting workshops and classes with the likes of Cicely Berry, Barry Ingrahm and John Barton. As well as  studying  directing with Sarah Holdren and Geoffrey Owens and had the amazing honor of studying at the Sam Wannamaker theatre in London.

My goal is to support actors to embrace their true potential by focusing on the story they are telling.  I help them to uncover the clues within their piece for them to find, and encourage them to make bold choices supported by the text. I strive to create a warm supportive environment for actors to feel safe and free to explore and then guide them to making the strongest choices based on their interpretation of the character.
