LowCo: A low-carbon home pilot
Event description
Fletcher Living is on an ambitious journey to lead the way within the residential construction sector to achieve the global goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Aotearoa New Zealand needs homes delivered at scale that reduce energy and water demands and costs for Kiwis. Through a project called LowCO, Fletcher Living is designing and building a high performance, thermally efficient pilot home with seven times less embodied and operational carbon than a standard built home with carbon positive landscaping. Alongside carbon targets, LowCO is also reducing water consumption by over 50% with Fletcher Living forming a collaborative partnership with Watercare.
Come to the Songbird Café at Waiata Shores and hear the project team from Fletcher Living, Watercare and industry experts talk about the design process and features of LowCO. Discover ways in which the public and private sector could accelerate decarbonisation and come away with ideas for how you could retrofit your own home to be more energy and water efficient. The talk will be followed by an opportunity to meet and mingle then a short evening walk through the Waiata Shores community to visit the building site where construction of the LowCO home will soon begin.
The event will follow the below format:
3-4pm: Presentations
4-4.30pm: Meet and mingle with the team / refreshments and canapes
