Lucienne Rickard | Exhibition Opening Celebration of 'Animal'
Event description
Join us to celebrate the opening night of the incredible Lucienne Rickard's Animal at Eloise Cato Gallery on Thursday 4th September 2025. This compelling new body of work speaks to the illusion of human exceptionalism, offering raw, intimate portraits of humanity stripped to its animal skin, it's core– wounded, instinctive and no different from other life forms.
RSVP is essential, please book through Humanitix. For further information or to register your interest in the pricelist please click hereor call +61 403 902 498. Based in Hobart, Lucienne Rickard holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania. Her practice gained national prominence through Extinction Studies, a live drawing performance presented over four years at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, and later at the 22nd Biennale of Sydney at the National Art School. With an extensive history exhibiting at key institutions both nationally and internationally, Lucienne's works in Sky Gazing, curated by Juliana Engberg at ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum, Denmark (2025); Playback: Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (2018); and Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (2014) has received critical acclaim. Residencies such as the Detached Cultural Organisation Residency at Lord Howe Island, the Rosamond McCulloch Studio in Paris, and the Contemporary Art Spaces Tasmania Scholarship have been pivotal to her practice. Her work is also held in major public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and the University of Tasmania, affirming Rickard's position as a leading figure in environmentally engaged contemporary art.
