Description
Daphne Dado's VIVIR SIN TI: LIVING WITHOUT YOU exhibition presents Creative Workshop: Lucky Talisman Making.
Join art therapist Monique Tilt (Certified Creative Arts Therapist) in this hands on creative workshop to create your one-of-a-kind talisman or charm!
About the practice of making lucky talismans
A lucky charm, often referred to as a talisman or amulet, holds profound symbolism across various cultures and belief systems. Many people associate talismans with hope, protection, and positive energy. The impact of having a talisman can be profound - often transcending spiritual, cultural and psychological traditions.
A talisman at its core is a symbol of optimism and human desire of good fortune as well as protection against harm and warding off evil forces.
During the workshop
In this hands-on workshop, certified Creative Arts Therapist Monique Tilt, will guide you in the making of your own lucky talisman. Using art supplies and natural materials (which will be provided), you will craft a talisman that is unique to you. We will then gather together and discuss what our talismans represents.
There is no right or wrong way to create your own talisman! This workshop allows you a space to play and explore different materials in art.
You will not only walk away from this workshop with your own lucky charm but connections within the community as welll.

FAQs
- How do I get there?
Laneway Artspace Bayswater is accessible via public transport and parking is available on site.
The gallery is directly opposite Bayswater train station. Parking is also available based on the image below.
Attendees will also get detailed instructions on how to get there after registrations.

- Can I bring my own materials to incorporate to my talisman?
Yes!
While we provide the basic necessities to create your own talisman such as wood, sticks, glitter, glue, yarn, buttons, stickers, paints, string etc , we also highly enourage you to bring a material that means something to you.
It can be something that already brings you a lot of joy or meaning to you or an object that you would like to imbue meaning to.
The whole point of this workshop is to make something that is unique to you :)
- I am worried this might be a religious thing....
No, this workshop is not connected to any religious themes nor will any discussion of religion take place.
This workshop is purely to give you a space to play and explore different art materials. Often, we do not give ourselves time and space to creatively play - which often holds many benefits. Art is a healthy outlet for emotions that may build up from day to day stresses.
Besides the creation of your own lucky talisman, we hope to also foster connection and community in our workshop.
Everyone is welcome to this workshop.
