Looking for a fun way to spend your Thursday night in Sydney? Come join us at our Lucky Tiles Social Club Social Mahjong - expect great convos, play a few rounds over drinks, and good vibes all around.

✨ What to Expect:

🀄 Mahjong for all levels - Newbies, pros, and the Mahjong-curious are all welcome.
🤗 First hour social play - First two games are played open hand - learn to play basic HK mahjong and socialize at the same time!
🙌 Chill, welcoming vibes - Come solo or with friends. Everyone fits in here.
🍹 One drink included - Sip while you play. Light snacks available to order.
🃏 Mahjong provided - Have a set? Bring it along and join the fun!

💸 Tickets: $20 online - all tickets include 1 non-alcoholic drink

🀄 Event Flow

• Check-in

• Form a group with 1-2 Intermediate/Advanced players and 2-3 Newbies.

• Grab a mahjong set and find a table to set up

• First hour of the event is social play (basic HK mahjong) with first two games played open hand (tiles facing up for everyone to see). After this, feel free to move into usual hidden tiles social play.

• Rotate every 3-4 games to meet some new friends! Winner of the last game stays and all other players find a new table.

• Feel free to also play HK points as agreed by the table

• Last game will be 30 mins before end of the event, but we encourage mingling to continue even after the event ends!

Tip: Can't make the start time or need to leave early? Feel free to drop in/out during the event.

No high stakes, no pressure - just good people, great games, and the perfect way to spend your Thursday night.

I'm new to Mahjong or HK point-scoring style 🤗

We have instructional materials, but also feel free to check out this amazing youtube video that goes over the basics. For players who know the basics already, here is a great intro to points.
Learning is also more fun with newbies so please indicate on your ticket.

I know how to play but want to socialise over fun games of mahjong 😎

For casual players, our default game is HK style (with points) because it's fun! However, people are welcome to play any style agreed by their table. If you would like us to try a different style, please let us know! We have tried Sichuan style before and it was heaps of fun!
Why are the first two games played open hand?🀄

We encourage the first two games played open so newbies and experienced players can help each other learn the game and socialize at the same time! Having the tiles open means one less thing to focus on and allows conversations to be started. After the first two games, please feel free to play as usual!
