Event description

Come along for a fun Friday night out and meet Lucy Bloom! Based on her own experiences and the mantra ‘write what you know’ Lucy has written a cracker of a debut novel that explores the sometimes disposable nature of modern relationships, divorce and online dating. Her book is a vehicle for storytelling and the result is an action packed and fast-paced novel that is as entertaining and thought provoking...

When author Edith Scott switches genre to write a book about war and men, she bites off more than she can chew. After learning some seriously hard lessons from men in her life who treated her poorly, Edith decides to write them into the plot. One by one she kills them off with delight. But Edith will never know that real life is dealing with them in a parallel reality too brutal for words.

Set in Sydney, Paris, London, Berlin and Kinshasa in the Congo, The Manuscript is Lucy Bloom’s debut novel and has all the Aussie context and whiplash humour of acclaimed television show Rake combined with the style and unexpected violence of Killing Eve. It is a novel about the delicate nature of relationships, the ruthlessness of karma and the blurry line between truth and fiction.

TICKETS WILL OPEN FOR BOOKING ON WEDNESDAY 12 APRIL - $5.00 - drinks and nibbles included.

LUCY BLOOM is an international keynote speaker and consulting CEO with a background in advertising and international aid. She was born in Africa and grew up in Australia. Lucy is an Ambassador for Australia Reads, is a member of the Australian Society of Authors, the Australian Writer’s Guild and the Country Women’s Association. While some find Lucy’s memoir hard to believe, The Manuscript is her first work of fiction. Her memoir, Get the Girls Out was originally published by HarperCollins in 2019, then Flamingo Publishing in 2021 and her first book, Cheers to Childbirth, remains the much-loved man-manual on the tricky business of childbirth support. Lucy is the mother of three teens and lives by the beach in Sydney.
