Lucy Bloom: The Manuscript

Event description

Come and join author Lucy Bloom as she discusses her book The Manuscript. Armed with the mantra ‘write what you know’ Lucy Bloom explores modern relationships, divorce and online dating through her author-protagonist, Edith Scott. Edith delights in enacting revenge on the men in her life by killing them off in her fiction. Little does she know, real life is also dealing with them, far more brutally.

The Manuscript is about the delicate nature of new relationships, the ruthlessness of karma and the blurry line between truth and fiction. It is also an action-packed, fast-paced novel that combines the whiplash humour of TV show Rake with the style and unexpected violence of Killing Eve.

LUCY BLOOM is an award-winning international keynote speaker and consulting CEO. She has a professional background in the advertising industry, running a boutique agency for 20 years before she moved to the not-for-profit sector as the CEO of two international aid charities.

Her first book, Cheers to Childbirth (2010, 2020), is the much-loved man-manual on the tricky business of childbirth support, recommended by midwives and obstetricians all over the world. Lucy’s memoir, Get the Girls Out (2019), dives into her life and career, growing up on a farm in Africa, then working in women’s health and education in Ethiopia and Cambodia. While some find Lucy’s memoir hard to believe, The Manuscript is her first work of fiction.

Book sales will be available on the night.
