The wisdom books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job present a unique set of challenges for Christians today. Proverbs offers of plethora of proverbial sayings, Ecclesiastes pessimistically reflects on the meaning of life, and Job recounts the story of a man wrestling with undeserved suffering.
However, despite the diversity as a collection, these books each reflect about living in a world under God’s governance but yet suffers under sin. In this lecture, we will explore how the doctrine of retribution serves as a central theme to understanding God’s justice and provides God’s people a key to wise living.
