Lume listening session: No. 1

The experience

Step out of the noise and into the light. The Lume Listening Session is a curated hour of intentional presence. We’ve reimagined the traditional gig as a hushed, living-room-style sanctuary where the music isn’t just background noise, it’s the heart of the room.

The artist: Sophie Aston

We are thrilled to host Waiheke-based artist Sophie Aston for this session. Sophie’s music, including her evocative debut single Better, is a blend of soulful storytelling and striking alt-pop. In this stripped-back setting, her powerful yet intimate vocals take center stage, offering a performance that is as vulnerable as it is captivating.

Create & listen

We invite you to bring along your "Offline bag" and engage with the music through your own creative lens:

• Creative Flow: Bring your knitting, your sketchbook, or any craft you’re working on.

• Analog Connection: Settle in with a board game or a deck of cards.

• Deep Listening: Simply sit back, and let the sound fill the room.

Session Details

• A space for all: This is an all-ages event. To preserve the quiet, attentive atmosphere of the session, we ask that children remain supervised by an adult.

• Presence over alcohol: This is a dry event. A selection of non-alcoholic beverages will be available for a koha (donation).

• Unplugged: We encourage a "phones-away" environment to help everyone stay grounded in the moment.

Supporting the artist (Sliding Scale)

We believe that intimate art should be accessible, but we also believe in the value of our artists. We offer a Sliding scale for tickets and ask that you choose the tier that best reflects your circumstances.

By choosing a higher tier, you are playing a vital role in supporting Sophie Aston’s work and ensuring we can continue to host these sessions for our community.

• Tier 1: Community Guest

• Tier 2: Session Standard

• Tier 3: Artist Moral Support (Highly encouraged to help sustain local talent)
