Event description

Lumonics Immersed
Saturday 8:00p to 10:30p

The intent of this transformative multi-sensory experience that the late artists Dorothy and Mel Tanner originated in 1969, and that continues to evolve, is to bring you into a state of comfort and expanded awareness. To that end, we utilize all the arts we can lay our hands on: light sculptures, painting, lasers, music, and projection; and provide a setting that can enable fresh insights. Each performance is orchestrated live and never repeated.

The Elements:

  • Mel and Dorothy Tanner's Light Sculptures
  • Original Special Effects, Music, and Video Projection
  • Lighting and the Effects Orchestrated Live  by Lumonics’ Marc Billard

“Lumonics will lift you into the stratosphere of mind expansion.”
Denver Westword

Doors open at 7:45 pm and you are welcome to stay until 10:30 pm. The light and sound immersion begins at 8:15 pm. Please arrive before the performance begins.

Before and after the performance, you are welcome to explore the artworks in the front gallery rooms, the performance space, and the Studio/Lumonics School of Light Art.

"Nestled in a warehouse in Denver is one of the most unique artistic experiences I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. By day, the building is home to the Lumonics Light & Sound Gallery — a space that serves as a permanent art installation for the futuristic light sculpture of artists Dorothy and Mel Tanner. But on Saturdays, the gallery hosts Lumonics Immersed, a mesmerizing and immersive theatrical piece that’s designed to honor the memory of the Tanners. This exciting series of live performances at the Lumonics Light & Sound Gallery feels like the cross between a yoga retreat and an acid trip." - Anthony Tresca, OnStage Colorado

“This is a unique experience not to be missed, truly the highlight of our trip to Denver.” - Bridget B.

"Lumonics is a light and sound experience that’s been around long before immersive art was considered a 'trend'”. - Maggie Donahue, Denverite

“Learn the true meaning of Lumonics when the temple of light art by the late Dorothy and Mel Tanner throws a special immersive evening combining art with special effects, original music and video by Dorothy Tanner and longtime collaborator Marc Billard. An audiovisual mantra meant to soothe the mind and expand awareness, this drug-free trip through Lumonics is unforgettable.” - Denver Westword

“I have been a fan of these light sculptures for many years, (you’ve seen them too, in the special gallery off City Street at Meow Wolf). But seeing this visual performance with custom-made soundscape is a whole new level of visual & auditory satisfaction. They offer classes too. I highly recommend checking this out. It will be worth your while. Support local arts, it’s good for you and the community.” -Corrina E.
