Lunar Eclipse at Australian Parliament House
Description
Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions, tonight’s Lunar Eclipse event has been cancelled.
With heavy cloud cover and rain forecast, and following advice from astrophysicist Dr Brad Tucker, we feel this decision is in the best interests of our attendees, our astronomers, and the event team.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Turn your eyes from the lights of Enlighten up to the night skies of Canberra for the lunar eclipse on Tuesday 3 March 2026!
Join Dr Brad Tucker, ANU astrophysicist, under the stars on the front lawns of Australian Parliament House.
Join us anytime between 8:50 pm and 11:00 pm to experience one of nature’s most exciting night-sky events. The best viewing time is between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm, with the peak around 10:30 pm.
Explore the moon up close through high‑magnification telescopes with guidance from one of Canberra’s most experienced astronomers.
Discover the stories of the night sky and learn more about Canberra’s place in the cosmos. Bring your curiosity—and bring your binoculars if you’d like!
