What's a Lunar Faire 70s Flower Moon Garden Disco? My job is literally to explain that to you here on this page with these words. I mean, I think you know but why not flesh it out.

First, you build a film company. Then, when you get to the 1970s, you decide that you, a film company, should make a theme park. And that theme park should be based on exotic animals that are barely enclosed. And be in New Jersey. Then you remember you don't know how to zoo or safari because you're a film company and your lions are eyeball to eyeball with NJ's tough crowd and you don't know who will win that fight but more importantly you aren't turning the wild profit you imagined so you shut the park down and definitely don't abandon the animals in the weird West Milford woods.

That's step one. Step two is wait 50 years and then have a retro-themed witchy night market about it in the woods that scream of abandoned 70s jungle garden and have yearned all this time for a disco.

Big flowers, flowing sleeves, ghost animals, the faire bear (of course), and grooves.

Come dressed your retro floral best under May's Full Flower Moon! Or just wear what you normally wear everyone does their own thing here.

Oh and don't forget to visit the mysterious tunnel portals of mystery.

Accessibility

This is a slightly more challenging venue. The entire venue is an abandoned parking lot on a grade. While it is all asphalt, it hasn't been freshly paved in many years and some of the surface is loose and broken. The main entry is accessed at the upper part of a parking lot and the gate is at the bottom of a somewhat steep hill. If you have a concern about mobility and the hill by the gate, please tell a parking attendant and they can radio us for help with an alternative entry.

Parking

Parking is $5 because it is a state park and there's no way around that

Please have exact change, cash only, ready for our parking staff on the way in. This will GREATLY EASE TRAFFIC AND MAKE YOU THE MOST HEROIC OF ALL ATTENDEES AND WE WILL CROWN YOU EXACT CHANGE ROYALTY (maybe). Of course, if you have an opportunity to carpool or get dropped off, that's still extremely super cool of you and saves you money and allows for more attendee parking! :)

Rain Date

This is an all weather event. The only reason we would cancel is if the weather is extremely severe or like the parking fields are snow covered but our blizzard wizard is on retainer to prevent this.

Refunds

All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued or transfers honored for other events unless we cancel or reschedule.

No Furry Friends Please

Pets other than service animals are prohibited. You may have seen people bring pets. Those people might not have seen the FAQs on the website or this part of the ticket, or the posts about it, or may be ignoring all of these. But please, out of respect for the venue, and, more importantly, non-pet people, and our insurance policy, please leave your furry friends at home. You will be turned away if you have a non-service animal pet with you.

Children

Should I bring them?

Depends how feral they are. If they are at least mildly civilized they’ll be thoroughly entertained and will remain undevoured.

Are they free?

So you decided to take the plunge and make a new generation of cool kids. Nice. 10 and under are free.

Do a lot of kids go?

A lot.

I've heard this is wholesome. But is it?

As you can see from the above questions, people proudly bring their children. Without getting into a philosophical argument about subjectivity and moral outrage, this is generally a wholesome and safe event. People are friendly, loving, inclusive, and peaceful. But it isn't sanitized. The map might say "Long-Ass Road" and our schedule includes active and participatory spellwork and we do not censor adult vendor products (though most are not overt). We occasionally sell a drink that looks like blood in a bag. But it's non-alcoholic, as are all our potions. And while there is absolutely nothing inherently dangerous to encounter, we're likely always going to walk a line of "propriety." And maybe, as a result, pioneer a whole new unapologetic version of wholesome. It is up to you and your parenting style to decide what you personally find objectionable and what is best for your own children. Our children attend.

Mask mandates are rapidly changing and we are a compassionate crowd! Please bring one, and wear one when appropriate or asked. We will comply with all mandates as they roll out closer to the event date and ask for your cooperation and empathy.

Additionally, exposure to COVID-19 is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit. The CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from Coronavirus. Attendees should evaluate their own risk in determining whether to attend. Don't come if you're sick, showing symptoms, or generally cantankerous. People who show no symptoms can spread Coronavirus if they are infected, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to Coronavirus. By coming to Lunar Faire, you acknowledge and agree that you assume these inherent risks associated with attendance.
