Lunch + Debate Words in Winter Central Goldfields
Event description
The debate and lunch
The debating team will unveil some stunning new local talent as well as featuring accomplished debater Deidre Griffiths, who won House Colours in 1969 for her sterling efforts in inter-school debating. Joining Deidre on stage to wrestle with the goat question of our times, is Phil Cleary, who honed his debating skills in parliament and on the footy field as player and coach. Ed Peck is determined his arguments will prevail as he supports the church against all odds, including his team Carlton. Will Andrew Scott prevail in his views that despite all else Richmond is the greatest team of all, except for when it comes to the one that had God playing for it, the Geelong Football Club. And of course, as a Hawthorn vicar once asked members of the public on his street-side billboard, what would you do if God came to Hawthorn. One person had a great idea: move Peter Hudson to centre-half forward. You'll have to be there to hear the various views and arguments. Who knows what might be said?
Lunch will be served from 12.15 so diners need to be seated by 12.05pm. Drinks are available at bar prices.
The debate kicks off at 1.15pm after preliminaries, introductions, coaches' addresses and so on and so forth.
