We’re excited to kick off our 2026-27 Lunch + Learn series, “God’s Presence in Our Work”. This series of lunch conversations is open to anyone curious about integrating their Christian faith and their work. Each gathering offers space to pause during the workday, meet someone new, and learn from others in town seeking to honor God with their work.
Seeing Work as Holy Ground
What would it look like for you to see your workplace as holy ground?
Throughout Scripture, God uses ordinary people and places to speak, transform, and further His mission. He meets Moses in the desert (Exodus 3), a woman drawing water at a well (John 4), and two fishermen casting their nets on a boat (Luke 5). Again and again, ordinary places become settings for encounters with God.
The same can be true of our work. We don’t need extraordinary jobs to encounter God or be used by Him. Whether we work from home, in an office cubicle, behind a barber chair, or in a transport truck, God is present because He has made his dwelling among us. Our workplaces are set apart—and that changes how we see the places and people around us.
Join us Tuesday, September 1, from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. to hear from Sarah Arata and Nate Adams about what it means to see their work as holy ground. Sarah, an account executive, and Nate, a local barber, will share how they see their places of vocation as spaces where God is forming them into the likeness of Christ and using their work for the good of others.
About the Series
Over the past year, we’ve heard from people across industries and career stages who share a common challenge: staying connected to God in their daily work. The pace and demands of our lives both within and outside of our jobs can make it difficult to pay attention to God’s presence in the everyday.
This series is an invitation to just do that. Over the next few months, we’ll hear from people across professions about the challenges they face, the spiritual practices they lean on, and the biblical truths that help draw their attention back to God. From entering our workspace to starting a meeting, sending an email, updating a spreadsheet, or talking with a colleague, God is already present—and inviting us to participate with Him.

Sarah Arata
Sarah is an account executive at Smurfit Westrock, where she helps retail brands drive growth through innovative merchandising solutions. She served as president of the Junior League of Chattanooga and founded its annual Touch-A-Truck fundraiser. She was recently honored as a Chattanooga 20 Under 40 recipient. Arata also serves on the board of Scenic City Clay Arts, mentors refugees with Bridge Refugee Services, and teaches environmental sustainability in local schools while supporting local nonprofits including Northside Neighborhood House, Faith Co-Op, The House, and Girls on the Run.
Nate Adams
Nate Adams is a master barber at Buchanan's Barber Lounge. He beautifully blends the creativity of his craft with his faith in Jesus to pour into his clients the love of God. Nate previously worked as a semi-pro soccer player for the Chattanooga Football Club, as well as serving as a coach for Bryan College.

There is paid street parking along Main Street and Williams Street, as well as a paid lot right across from the back entrance to The Feed.
- Where is the main entrance?
The main entrance to The Feed event space is behind the building off of Williams Street. You will see a Faith Co-Op sign leading you to the main event entrance.
