Lunch with a Legend: Building Omaka's Future
Description
Lunch with a Legend: Building Omaka’s Future
Join us inside Omaka’s Dangerous Skies exhibition for a very special fundraising luncheon celebrating the remarkable Spirit of Douglas DC-3.
Built in 1942 as a C-53 military transport, this historic aircraft served in the China–Burma–India theatre during the Second World War and flew the dangerous Himalayan supply route known as “the Hump”. Its long story has since taken it through military and civilian service, across continents and oceans, and to major aviation commemorations around the world.
Guests will enjoy a welcome drink and a three-course lunch prepared by Feast Merchants, followed by a video presentation and talk from members of the Spirit of Douglas team. Hear about the aircraft’s extraordinary history, the people behind its restoration and what it takes to keep an aircraft more than 80 years old flying.
Luncheon guests will also have the only public opportunity to step onboard the Spirit of Douglas during its visit, along with access to a special display of memorabilia and the official Spirit of Douglas coffee table book.
