Join Cat Gerke for an amazing afternoon still-life art class in a gorgeous Hinterland guest house. This afternoon class is the ultimate in luxury, a chance to gather, connect, learn and indulge. 


The afternoon includes: 


Art class with a professional artist: 

Artist and Teacher, Cat Gerke


Cat Gerke is a professional contemporary artist, focused on modern still life painting. She has been exhibited at many Australian art galleries and internationally. Cat is a passionate ambassador of wildlife conservation in the Northern Rivers uses her art classes as a way of raising funds for wildlife conservation charities within the region. 

This Paint and Sip Event includes a 4-hour artmaking class where you'll learn the fundamentals of painting a mini still life. You'll learn some of the techniques Cat uses in her paintings, including painting patterns, sketching and painting food, and getting your composition right. Unlike other 'Paint and Sip' classes this is not a 'paint by numbers' class. You'll be able to design a piece of art that speaks to the things you love and everyone can paint something unique. The class includes all materials you need including a canvas, paper, paints and brushes. 

A 30 x 40cm canvas will be provided for you to paint and take home at the conclusion of the class.

Chef Tobias Douglas


Chef Tobias Douglas has worked at iconic restaurants such as Harvest Newrybar, the Jaime Oliver Group and has also gained experience from incredible culinary institutions such as Quay, Tetsuya's and Otto. He is passionate about quality local produce and crafting menus that surprise and delight diners. Tobias is designing a custom canape selection for the event with full dietaries considered and celebrated. The event will include quality Australian wines to enjoy throughout the art class and during the event. Daybreak Forest


The class is hosted at Daybreak Forest, a luxury guesthouse in Clunes located in the Byron Bay hinterland. Upon arrival at the event, you'll meet all the other participants while enjoying canapes and a glass of champagne on the lawns, overlooking the hinterland views. The art class is hosted within the comfort of the Seedling Room where you'll learn to paint your masterpiece, you'll also be inspired by a selection of custom canapes served throughout. At the end of the art class, you can take your time, discuss and get to know everyone a little better. Venture back to the alfresco space and enjoy a Sundowner while the sun sets over the hinterland, the perfect ending to a perfect day.  

All for charity. 

All funds raised from this event will be donated to charity, divided evenly between Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital and Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Things to consider: 

  • Consider booking an Uber or having a friend pick you up if you intend on drinking. The event with observe RSA and we do not want any participants to drive from the event under the influence of alcohol. 
  • Bring images of anything you may want to layer into your artwork or use as a reference. 
  • Please provide any dietary requirements at the time of your booking. These will be fundamental in designing a gorgeous canape menu.
