Interested in art processes but not sure where to start?
Ever wonder how artists use different materials to make work?
Would you like to play with art materials and methods and make some art?

Whether you’re a beginner or a professional maker these workshops are for you. They are about playing with materials and enjoying the process of creativity in a relaxed atmosphere.

Ali Aedy - M16 studio artist from Ali Aedy Art Collective - is running two workshops on art making in Gallery 1 at M16.

The runtime is 1.5 hours.
All materials will be provided.

Automatic drawing is inspired by the Surrealist art movement, and is an accelerated or intensified doodling where surprising images can develop and be used for further play. Starting with a reference element from an artwork in 𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙒 𝙊𝙁𝙁𝙎, you will draw without thinking and avoid conscious control over the image. Using paper, pencils and pastels you’ll make automatic drawings. Ali will outline some methods and processes to assist you to draw.

While you're here, you can also check out the exhibitions 𝙎𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 by Canberra Art Workshop and 𝙊𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙬 by Hands On Studio, as well as Ali Aedy's artwork 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 (𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙨) which is installed in Chutespace.

Exhibitions run from

7 JULY to 30 JULY
