Snow Gum planting day - Macedon Forest Restoration Project

Following the successful planting on Mt Macedon at the Barringo Road precinct last year, DECCA have earmarked Saturday 29th August as the next volunteer tree planting date for the Macedon Forest Restoration Project. Approximately 800 snow gums have become available for planting - these seedlings have emerged from the seeds which the Macedon and Mt Macedon Landcare Group collected back in early 2024 in the Newham area. The trees will be planted in one of the restoration areas nearest the Memorial Cross.

We will meet at 10.30am at the Upper Clyde Revegetation Block, on Clyde Track Mount Macedon.- look for the Landcare sign .

Enjoy a social morning and planting with the DECCA crew, who will provide a BBQ for us at the completion of the mornings planting at approximately 1.30pm.

Please wear clothes, footwear and a hat appropriate for planting work in the unpredictable weather on top of the Mount at that time of year. Gardening gloves and a water-bottle/drink are also recommended.

Following the BBQ provided by DEECA, you are invited to participate in the Friends of the Earth inaugural snow gum census. We will start by surveying the snow gums near the Mt Macedon Summit and around the Memorial Cross. If there are enough attendees, we will also survey around Camel’s Hump.
