MackHack is a hackathon long weekend where teams work on genuine industry challenges with the objective of driving the commercial acceleration of METS & Mining scaleup mining equipment, technology, or services locally and across the State.

This cross-sector event will feature guest speakers, case studies and workshops in AI, Robotics, and XR (VR, AR, MR) technology.

It will bring together thinkers, makers, doers, creatives, innovators and entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, and programmers to solve your internal business challenges or bigger industry challenges.

Throughout the weekend, you will turn your ideas into reality, prototypes into production and connect with like-minded people, industry experts and mentors. You will be supported by industry experts, and professional mentors to evolve your thinking to incorporate innovative technologies into everyday business practice and put this new mindset to transform the mining and METS sectors.

Q. What is MackHack?

A.  MackHack is a hackathon style event in which teams made up of a diversity of skills get together to collaborate intensively on a project of their choice. The aim is to design, build and present an innovative solution to their defined problem, and then pitch a final concept, prototype or presentation to the stakeholders.  

Q. Do I need to be in a team to register?

A. No. Teams are formed on the night based on the project presented that most interests you, and where you feel you will add most value.  This is a facilitated process in a safe and welcoming environment.  

Q. My workplace has sent us to work on an internal business challenge, can we stay together as a team?

A. Yes. Teams are formed on the night based on the project presented that you are most interested in and where you feel you will add most value.  

Q. What do I need to bring with me?

A. Useful items include a laptop and water bottle.  Wear comfortable clothing and closed in shoes. 

Q. What about food?

A. Food and drinks are provided for the whole weekend.  Dietary requirements can be filled in during checkout.
