Macquarie's department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language and Literature (MCCALL) is thrilled to invite you to celebrate the best student short films of the year.

The annual Focus Screening ceremony shines a spotlight on our talented screen production students and their films. The selected short films are screened and judged by a panel of industry professionals. Major awards are presented on the night including outstanding achievement in the below categories:

  • Directing
  • Producing
  • Cinematography
  • Production Design
  • Editing
  • Sound Design
  • Documentary

About MCCALL

The Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language, and Literature (MCCALL) is unique in offering students broad-based degrees with equal emphasis on the theory and practice in a number of creative practices, including screen.

MCCALL is housed in the former AFTRS building and has invested heavily in a teaching cohort of award-winning academics and industry-standard facilities which includes professional screen, radio and dance studios, state-of-the-art digital workstations for all production areas, a specially equipped screening theatre, and the latest in digital production and editing tools. 

Our student drama and documentary works have won prestigious awards including ATOM Awards, Best Film Awards at numerous festivals, and selection at major domestic and international festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival. Recent graduates have found jobs with major broadcasters and film and television production companies.
