Macquarie Musical Society presents Jesus Christ Superstar
Description
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
The city of Jerusalem has been occupied by the forces of the Roman empire and the tension in
the city is at breaking point. The people are hungry for a leader to free them and the Pharisees
and ruling class are all too aware of the upheaval a revolution would cause.
Enter the perfect Martyr. Someone to take the brunt of the rage of the people. Someone to
distract the population from who is really pulling their strings.
Jesus Christ Superstar follows the final week in the life of Jesus Christ, a simple preacher from
Galilee who has developed a following of friends and caught the eye of a city on the brink of
fracturing. With him is Judas Iscariot, his best friend and right hand man who seems to be the
only one able to see the dangers of the path they’re walking. Judas only wants them to be safe,
but with the violence and tension growing, maybe there is only one way out of it all.
