Event description

Pianist Macy Blackman and his hard-driving band the Mighty Fines are the kings of New Orleans R&B, swing music, with sizzling songs including “Boogie Woogie Blue Plate” and “Sea Cruise.”

Originally from Delaware, Macy Blackman made his professional debut at the age of 12 and has played music most of his life, eventually moving to San Francisco. He put together the Mighty Fines in 2003 with some of the bay’s top R&B and blues players.

The Mighty Fines include saxophonists Nancy Wright (John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Elvin Bishop), Ken “Snakebite” Jacobs (Neville Brothers, The Band, Temptations, Gatemouth Brown), bassist Bing Nathan (Lavay Smith’s Red Hot Skillet Lickers) and drummer Larry Vann (Martha Reeves, Elvin Bishop, Charles Brown, Buffy Saint-Marie).

Tickets are $20 general admission. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.

Doors open 30 minutes before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.

The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. The venue is ADA accessible. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-381-1997.
