Event description
Come along to the Junk Bar in Brisbane/Meanjin to celebrate the launch of Maddison Kate's latest single 'Only Place We Know'.

Maddison Kate
Emerging indie/folk singer-songwriter Maddison Kate has an enchanting voice, singing the songs of old souls. She brings raw emotion to the hearts of her audience through her expressive songwriting and earthy tones.Â
Growing up in the nurturing community of Eumundi, she began writing songs with her guitar and vocals and performing these at local open mic nights from the age of 9. Maddison has since been a part of various singing/songwriting competitions such as the 2018 Gympie Music Muster Junior Talent Search, was one of six finalists of the On-Song competition for the 2019 Queensland Music Festival, was a semi-finalist in the 2023 Listen Up Songwriting Competition, as well as won the 2TM Discovered Competition at Tamworth Country Music Festival 2024.Â
Likened to artists such as Joni Mitchell and Missy Higgins, Maddison explores truths of the human experience and aims to build connections with others through her introspective songs. Maddison has released three singles and is currently working on her debut EP of six songs to be released in late 2024.
Hazel Mei
With a sweet yet sultry tone that oozes luxury, Brisbane-based Hazel Mei packs a pensive punch with her brand of sonic magic. The mesmerising songstress creates an eccentric brew of indie-pop, cleverly blended with jazz and neo-soul elements. Whilst she turns her innermost thoughts into relatable hits, the rising talent aims to make a positive impact on the industry with her inspiring and candid narratives.
Making waves on home turf and beyond, Hazel is no stranger to appearing on radio both in Australia and across Europe, with her tracks frequently listed in metro AMRAP’s charts and has received glowing reviews from the likes of Happy Mag, AAA Backstage, and more. Having already sold out shows across Brisbane, and supported the likes of Annie Hamilton and Keli Holiday (Peking Duk), Hazel is proving she can wow from stereo to stage. Making all the right moves to become the next big Australian talent, Hazel Mei is a force to be reckoned with, headed for the top.
Nick Marks
Brisbane-based emerging singer/songwriter Nick Marks writes songs that transfix the soul. With soothing vocal tones and jazz/pop melodies that echo the likes of Mac DeMarco, Nick creates songs that leave listeners enraptured. Nick released his debut EP in 2018 and continues to write and share his intricate and moving tunes with others.Â
