‘Music can be such a revelation…’

- Into The Groove, 1985.

Dance is essential part of culture. While long celebrated as a place to gather community, there is little recognition of the dance floor as a space for self reflection, self examination - or self actualisation.

‘Let the music take control

Find a groove and let yourself go…’

- Everybody, 1982.

While she is many things, Madonna is first and foremost a dancer. Since the release of her first single ‘Everybody’ in 1982, she has championed the dance floor as a place to not only lose yourself, but to find yourself.

‘When all else fails and you long to be

Something better than you are today

I know a place where you can get away

It's called a dance floor…’

- Vogue, 1990

Through an exploration of the philosophy evident in Madonna’s life and work, Dan Brophy presents a talk that is part pop-culture analysis, part evangelical sermon and part wellbeing workshop - designed to forever change the way you think about dancing.

“And you can dance, for inspiration…"

- Into The Groove, 1985.

Madonna Theology is a 60 minute talk followed by a 90 minute Madonnathon ‘dance immersion’ by DJ Jason De Cox (The Dollar Bin Darlings / Angels Only).
