Description
Never get stuck for an idea again! In this interactive workshop, you will literally pick ideas out of a hat to brainstorm your own uniquely fabulous story based on Jet Pack Jack or Big Mess Jess from Sally's Reading Adventures series! Discover tips and tricks on characters and dialogue, and practise using language features and editing to make your stories sparkle. For the best trick of all, learn how to make your stories move - literally! Take part in an energetic Word Gym where stories dance, bounce, hop, spin and fly. You'll never want to write a boring sentence again - and it will feel like magic!

Presenter: Sally Sutton
Sally Sutton is a best-selling, award-winning author of picture books and junior fiction, and the playwright for Hī Hā school productions. Her books include the Roadworks series (illustrated by Brian Lovelock), The Cat from Muzzle (illustrated by Scott Tulloch), the Lulu and the Dance Detectives series (illustrated by Lily Uivel) and the Miniwings series (illustrated by Kirsten Richards). Her most recent books are the Reading Adventures series with Sunshine Books: Big Mess Jess and Jet Pack Jack. These easy-to-read, graphic-novel-style chapter books progress through an identical Scope and Sequence and align with the Sunshine Phonics decodables series. Sally calls them her ‘magic books.’ Sally lives in Auckland with her family, two naughty cats and an even naughtier dog, which may or may not have been the inspiration behind Big Mess Jess. Otto also crashes into things and eats buns, but he prefers carrot and cucumber sticks. Actually.
