Starting as a shared mix series between friends, Magnetic Island Archive (M.I.A) has since grown to become a recurring mutual exchange between Indonesia and so-called Australia, pollinating the Indian Ocean in its midst. The result is long-lasting ties between the Crown Ruler and Potato Head crews, fastened from cruising on the mateship of music sharing - All aboard!

To celebrate these ties we’re bringing our Bali pals down under - something we’ve been itching to do ever since they welcomed us with open arms at Potato Head in May. Anchor yourselves at the dock, ‘cause this weekend’s watering hole is a two-day, two-story takeover of Angel Music Bar, July 1st-2nd. This will be your chance to see the wormhole between the two worlds open, inviting them to coexist side by side as we celebrate Indonesian talent from both creative scenes alongside Naarm’s finest.

The first night of world-melding sees DITA take the reins for her first ever Naarm gig, where she’ll showcase the sound she solidified first on Jakartan and then Balinese dance floors with a nuanced mix of Proto-House, Disco, 90s breaks and Balearic. Friday will also feature a masterclass from Indo music giants Ones B2B Bayu who we’re now lucky enough to call locals here, and Komang - fresh from visiting family in Bali - alongside aficionados C.FRIM, Umut, Jamie Bennett and Hi-Care, who were all lucky enough to play up at the Potato Head playground over the last few months.

On Saturday night expect the Indonesian crew to continue to brighten Naarm’s winter lull, this time ripe with the stench of excitement as GERO and Get the Gat also play their first ever gigs here. Alongside them on the bill on the second night we have Sophie McCalsiter - celebrating her Balinese heritage with her signature blend of foot-stomping tunes - and local legends Zjoso, Lori, Walle, Emelyne & Papa Louis, many of also christened Indonesian waters with their fine selections in May.
