Mahesh & Tapestries of Sound at The Bundanoon Club

Sydney-Canberra-Aotearoa based Tapestries of Sound draw from South Asian ragas, Gaelic airs and sundry genres in a world-folk aesthetic. Their critically acclaimed album Unsung Yarns sang of untold stories of multiculturalism in colonial Australia and has featured on ABC Radio National, Radio Na Gaelachta in Ireland and 2XX Canberra. Tapestries’ new EP Circling Beyond the Square explores the tunes which traveled with quadrilles and related square formation dances based on Mahesh White-Radhakrishnan’s 2022 National Folk Fellowship research.

Come along for an evening of world folk vibes and learn about some surprising connections from Lidcombe to Lanka, Emu Creek to the Kaveri River or Naarm to Nepal through the quadrille tunes which circled round beyond the square.
