Mahika kai is a term that refers to the traditional practices and knowledge of gathering, cultivating, and utilising natural resources for food, medicine, and other cultural purposes. Mahika kai is a vital part of te ao Māori and is deeply connected to the land, waterways and ecosystems that sustain it. Michael McMillan of Arowhenua will be holding 30-minute workshops sharing his knowledge on mahika kai and sites of significance in the Arowhenua takiwā.
