GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION

OBEYING INSTRUCTIONS

All participants must obey the instructions of the event director and event volunteers.

SAFETY

Running and walking is a healthy and fun way to keep fit, connect with others and enjoy the outdoors. However, due to its nature, it also carries elements of risk (for example, injuries due to uneven surfaces). It is the responsibility of all participants to conduct themselves in a safe manner and to help other participants if injured or in need of assistance.

KNOWING THE COURSE

All efforts will be made to make the course easy to follow. However, participants are responsible for knowing the layout of the event course. Maps will be made available on the event Instagram page and at the pre-event registration.

SHARING THE TRAIL

Please remember that the Main Yarra Trail is a public shared path (including other walkers, runners and cyclists). To ensure everyone continues to enjoy the event, please keep left on the path and give way to other trail users.

CUT OFF TIMES

To ensure the safety of all participants cut off times will be 2 hours after the start time for each event.

WITHDRAWALS

If, after the event has started, a participant withdraws from the event for any reason, they must notify an event volunteer. This is required to avoid unnecessary searches for missing competitors.

IPODS AND OTHER AUDIO DEVICES

Many runners enjoy listening to music as they run. However, we recommend you leave your music devices at home and enjoy the trail and the camaraderie of those running or walking with you. If using a music device, please do not disturb other participants and ensure you are able to hear event volunteer instructions.

DOGS

For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted in the run.

You are welcome to bring your well behaved dog to the walk event (not run); however, you are responsible for its behaviour on the course. Please consider the enjoyment of other participants by keeping your dog on a short lead at all times and cleaning up any mess it makes.

EVENT BIBS

We do not send event packs to participants in the post. Event bibs must be collected on event day at the registration table at Heidelberg Football and Netball Club pavilion. The event bib is to be worn on the front of the competitor’s torso. It must be visible at all times. It is used to identify participants on course and will include electronic timing for the 10km run participants.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND VALUABLES

We will provide an area where personal belongings may be placed during the event. However, we do not accept responsibility for their safety. If you have valuables that you are concerned about, please do not leave them in this area.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

Event volunteers may take photos and videos. These images may be made available for publication on social media, websites or paper media. By participating, the competitor gives permission for any images and commentary that includes them to be used by the event organisers and their partners.

RUBBISH

Our goal is to leave the trails and parklands as we found them, OR BETTER. No rubbish is to be left on the course. Please place all items, no matter how small, in pockets for depositing in bins at start/finish area.
